Title: Impact of COVID-19 Epidemic on Last-Mile Delivery in Micron Semiconductor Asia Pte Ltd.
- How can the supply of many varieties of products in the semiconductor industry be impacted by disruptions caused by the pandemic? I have focused on a specific industry looking at the supply of many varieties of products against supply disruptions; so, you should be reading about companies having many products, and what would happen to supply
- How can companies innovate in inventory management to mitigate these effects? (You now read about inventory management and what companies can do to product varieties during supply disruptions)
The covid-19 pandemic has disrupted the last-mile delivery in the semiconductor and electronics industry by a significant proportion. Coughlin (2020) conducted a study to determine the impact of COVID-19 on the global consumer electronics market. Considering that Asia is the leading manufacturer and market for semiconductors and electronics, the study recognizes that the pandemic disrupted most organizational daily activities and compelled most companies to resort to working from home. The study also revealed that there was a sudden gap between the increased demand for semiconductor and electronic products in the market and the low supply
occasioned by reduced production. In essence, the study suggested that the disruptions caused by COVID-19 in the global electronic industry led to reduced business activities due to the scarcity of consumer devices that could not allow people to work from home. The study also recognizes that education, marketing, and meetings became entirely dependent on consumer technology and devices. In that lens, the research portrayed this disruption as a wake-up call that more semiconductor and electronic products should be manufactured and distributed to final consumers to enhance education, work, marketing, and other socioeconomic interactions. his literature review will be presented in two parts; the first part will highlight how the supply of many varieties of products by Micron and the semiconductor industry has been impacted by COVID-19 epidemic disruptions. The second part of the review will focus on the innovative strategies companies can employ in their stock and inventory management to mitigate the effects of covid-19 disruptions on their last-mile delivery.
